Pelze Multimedia was a lesbian-feminist action framework, a meeting place, a space for women’s art, a project of the autonomous women’s movement, and, as the participants declared, a provocation. Between 1981 and 1996, Ladies Only! used the former fur shop in Berlin-Schöneberg for artistic, sexual, and political experiments. CINEPELZE presents Pelze Multimedia as cinema, film setting, and subject of a documentary film. The movie night includes films that were produced by Ladiesbetween 1981 and 1996 at Pelze and give an impression of the subcultural locality. The documentary film Subjekträume – eine lesbische Produktionskapsel. Pelze Multimedia Westberlin 1981 – 1996 (2020, 28 min) by Katharina Voß (short: Kat Voss) and Janin Afken uses interviews and archival material to give insight into the events, dynamics and persons that shaped the fur shop during its fifteen-year existence.
Roswitha Baumeister, Mahide Lein and Kat Voss will attend the film screening and discuss Pelze Multimedia, their films, and queer-feminist filmmaking with Karola Gramann and Sarah Happersberger.
