How do we find community? What do we find when we find community? What do I find, what do you? And in which forms can we write about the strange shapes that communities take?
Part of a longer project, the following text is concerned with collectivity, luxury, visibility, changes, identity, and non-identity – especially, perhaps, in settings subsumed under the rather vast label ‘queer’ whose (easy) attachment to ‘community’ may appear beyond all doubt.
If it leans on the destabilising insistences Gertrude Stein cultivated (especially on her 1927 “Patriarchal Poetry”) and if this is itself an uneasy heritage, the text operates in ambivalent formal community.
At any rate, the text continues to ask some of the questions posed above in different ways
